BACKGROUND
Tracket
Tracket is a mobile application designed to help users stay organized and efficient in managing their inventory and related tasks during all parts of the moving process. This app is a comprehensive tool for managing inventory and related tasks, with a user-friendly dashboard.
THE PROBLEM
Moving to a new place is a significant life event that often causes stress, frustration, and anxiety among users.
THE GOAL
Our goal is to identify the pain points and challenges that users face during the moving process, and find ways to alleviate their stress and make the experience more enjoyable. By understanding users' emotional journey throughout the moving process, we aim to provide an app that make the process less overwhelming and more exciting

Competitive Analysis
After identifying a problem, I conducted a competitive analysis with companies that shared similar core values to Tracket. Although these companies primarily focused on the moving aspect of finding movers, they offered productive features to track a client's move, which aligned with our app's objectives. During the analysis, I discovered that these companies shared a common problem of lacking a mobile app and only focused on moving services.

User Interviews
Learn the issues real users are facing during their move process...
Once completing the competitive analysis, I carried out interviews with 7 candidates to gain a deeper understanding of their moving experiences. During the interviews, I asked questions such as how far in advance they typically plan a move, whether they ever forgot to do anything during the process, and if there was anything they wished they had done differently, such as seeking advice or using a recommended service.
7
Users have moved before
51%
Users forgot an item during their move
86%
Users would like a visual tracker
Affinity Mapping
Once organizing our interviewees answers...
I initiated the process of affinity mapping by organizing related answers into groups and further segmenting these groups into subgroups. This approach enabled us to gain deeper insights into their preferences, paint points, goals, and other uses.
DEFINE
POVs
To have a better understanding of Users, I used the POV (Point of View) method to see the perspective of the user to gain deeper insights into their needs, goals, emotions, and behaviors.
-
I’d like to explore ways to help overwhelmed users stay on track through the moving process because the stress may often lead to forgetting small tasks.
-
I’d like to explore ways to help money-conscious users to find different ways of budgeting before a move because they’ll often feel stressed about having to cut costs.
-
I’d like to explore ways to help users who seek resources to receive guidance and advice on planning their move.
HMWs
After curating my POVs I began creating How Might We Questions as a way to reframe problems as opportunities for innovation and brainstorm potential solutions that address user needs and pain points.
How might we help users feel less stressed by being assured that everything is packed for a move?
How might we ensure our users are staying on track throughout their moving process?
How might we find affordable services and resources that are within a user’s means?
How might we advise users with resources such as guides and tips to help them during their move?
How might we advise users with resources such as guides and tips to help them during their move?
How might we connect users with individuals who have gone through the process of moving?
User Persona
Curating a personal user through research
In order to gain deeper insights into Trackets' potential user base, I developed a persona through extensive research and interviews. This persona serves as a representative user, allowing me to better understand their unique needs and goals, and ultimately inform my design decisions.
IDEATE
User Flow
Using insights gathered from user interviews, analysis, and personas, I designed a user flow for the onboarding process and task feature of Tracket.
Project Goals
Before ideating and designing, I defined the goals of our project based on the research done beforehand.
PROTOTYPE
Low-Fidelity Wireframes
Transitioning to the design and concept phase, I developed a series of low-fidelity wireframes from my wireframe sketches to have a general layout of the app. My main focus was on the dashboard and item status feature that Tracket had to offer.
Storyboarding
Once creating a user flow, I opted to create a storyboard that depicts how a consumer might choose to use the Tracket app during their move. This involved illustrating the steps and interactions of a user journey.
Branding
After completing the wireframes and conducting research on the potential app, I developed a comprehensive style guide that aligned with Tracket's core values and objectives. I designed a logo, color palette, icons, and other UI components to ensure visual consistency throughout the high-fidelity wireframes.
High-Fidelity Wireframes
Once creating my UI components and branding, I developed a series of high-fidelity wireframes to showcase Tracket and its features. My goal was to create a visually engaging dashboard that would enhance the user's ability to understand and navigate the system's organization. To achieve this, I concentrated on refining the item tracker feature of Tracket, ensuring that it was intuitive.
TESTING
Final Prototype
With completed branding and my low-fidelity wireframes, I have created my high-fidelity wireframes to go through testing and evaluation.
REFLECTION
The new knowledge and skills I acquired from this end-to-end mobile application made designing much more enjoyable, and I viewed the obstacles I faced as a new designer as a test of my commitment. Undertaking the challenge of designing an end-to-end mobile application for Tracket, a moving application, has proven to be a transformative experience in my role as a junior UX designer. Over the course of 8 weeks, I assumed various responsibilities, including Product Designer, UX Researcher, and UX/UI Designer, utilizing Figma as the primary tool.
The early phases were a deep dive into research, including an insightful competitive analysis and engaging user interviews to unravel the complexities of moving. As the project fell into place through affinity mapping, the subsequent design stages flowed seamlessly. Ideation, prototyping, and testing became a playground where I molded a high-fidelity wireframe and carefully curated a branding strategy that resonated with Tracket. Now, the final prototype stands ready for its moment of truth, marking the end of a project that not only elevated my skills but kindled a genuine passion to further my career in UX. With the knowledge I've gained from this, I aim to revisit this project to refine it further, develop more features, and possibly launch a fully functioning application on the app store in the future with the help of a team.
